Born into a bustling family of eight, Louie’s journey into the world of boxing wasn’t a predetermined path. As a middle child, his early sporting passion leaned towards football, but fate had other plans. Encouraged by his father Eddie, Louie found himself lacing up boxing gloves, squaring off against his older brother James and his father in spirited sparring sessions. Little did he know, these humble beginnings would pave the way for an extraordinary career.
Transitioning from an amateur enthusiast to a rising professional champion, Louie’s story is a testament to perseverance and dedication. Under the mentorship of the esteemed trainer and manager, Gordon Charlesworth, Louie’s talent flourished, evolving from a promising amateur to a formidable contender in the professional ring.
However, his path wasn’t without its challenges. In his formative years, distractions loomed large, leading to setbacks in both his boxing career and personal life. Yet, these adversities served as invaluable lessons, teaching Louie the importance of commitment and discipline in pursuit of greatness.
Louie’s boxing journey commenced at the age of fourteen, securing victory in his first four bouts, three of which ended by way of stoppages. However, a setback in his fifth bout served as a pivotal lesson when he acknowledged his lack of proper training and attributed his loss to overconfidence. This period coincided with his transition to from mainstream education to an alternate school due to disruptive behaviour and high energy levels. It was at this school that Louie, among others, found solace in out-of-school activities, notably at the Essex University boxing gym in Colchester, where he crossed paths with coach Gordon Charlesworth.
At the age of 16, Louie won his first national title with Chelmsford. Despite distractions during his teenage years, Louie’s dedication to training remained steadfast, leading to victories and national recognition, notably at the Eindhoven tournament, a three day tournament hosting some of the worlds best boxers.
Louie faced off against formidable opponents from Portugal, Ireland and winning the gold against the Belgium champion in u63.5kg lightweight championship, a triumph that underscored his potential as a rising star in the boxing world.
The subsequent years presented challenges, with the global pandemic disrupting boxing events. However, Louie returned with increased vigour in 2022, claiming victory in prestigious competitions such as the Haringey Boxcup, England National Amateur title and boxing for England in the Tri-Nations tournament in Cardiff, Wales. His unwavering determination and unyielding spirit propelled him forward, earning accolades and recognition on both national and international stages.
As Louie embarked on his professional journey, he sought to test his mettle against the best in the business. Training alongside seasoned pros at renowned gyms like the Peacock Gym and Graham Everett’s Gym, Louie honed his skills and embraced the challenges that lay ahead.
With each bout, Louie showcased his prowess and resilience, earning praise from peers and opponents alike. From his debut at the Peacock Gym to a memorable victory at the Iconic York Hall against the seasoned Lee Hallett, Louie’s journey was marked by triumphs and excitement.
On February 24th, 2024, Louie etched his name in boxing history, comfortably winning the Southern Area title in a memorable showdown against unbeaten Marley Mason. This fight was nominated and won The Southern Area Title Best Fight of the Year Award, nominated by his peers. His remarkable ascent from amateur enthusiast to professional champion has captured the public eye earning him a reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the lightweight division.
Louie defended the Southern Area against seasoned pro Jeff Ofori in a hard-fought bout on May 25th 2024. Moving forward he has set his sights on even greater heights, eyeing the British title as the next milestone in his illustrious career. Unbeaten in eight fights so far, he steps out in 2025 in a six-rounder on April 24th with a promise of a title shot very soon after.
As the next chapter unfolds, Louie remains grounded in his roots, welcoming all who wish to join him on this extraordinary journey. With determination in his heart and fire in his fists, he stands ready to conquer whatever challenges lie ahead, leaving an indelible mark on the world of boxing and beyond.
