Louie O'Doherty claimed the first professional title of his career after defeating Marley Mason in an all-action Southern Area lightweight championship contest at London's York Hall.

The unbeaten lightweights met for the vacant title on 24 February 2024, with O'Doherty entering the bout after five consecutive professional victories.

Eight hard-fought rounds followed before Mason retired on his stool at the end of the eighth, handing O'Doherty the Southern Area lightweight championship and moving the Essex fighter to six professional victories without defeat.
